A REST API (also known as RESTful API) is an application programming interface (API or web API) that conforms to the constraints of REST architectural style and allows for interaction with RESTful web services.
The Role of APIs In Blockchain :
It is an interface that communicates with a blockchain node or a client network directly or through another service. A good blockchain API example would be an interface between a Bitcoin exchange and a user application that gathers data from it.
One of the best elements of the blockchain is the fact it is driven entirely by the concept of trust. Each interaction on the blockchain trusts and verifies the transaction, and depends on the consensus of all nodes to track what is an otherwise untrackable, decentralized activity. The API community is likewise driven by the trust as a key concept — and this is why the blockchain is an amazing element of connectivity in the API stack.
It’s time to ditch the old-school RPC and come up with REST and GraphQL API. Also,every node will have its own Extended Websocket To meet the real-time requirement of some DApps.
